Toby Bowen This pacific weekend the weather looked dry and currently cold but was due to turn some what warmer over the session. I had booked 48 hours to make it happen. I arrived at the lake early and to my surprise it was completely empty, I done a lap and settled in a swim what holds a big amount of the pond and knowing the depth and known spot I got straight to work. Using my bait boat and wrap sticks I put 2 on a real clear spot 30 wraps out with a mix of 10mm essential cell, 10mm cell, 18mm crushed iso freezer bait all doused in matching smart liquid, hemp & maize. All three rods had a selection of 18mm hard hookers snowman style then in hope to home in on one what works this time round. Plenty of bites came with a selection of mirrors all over 25lb mostly on my left rod. Topping up the spot after every bite was doing the business. At around 3.30pm I had a take on the left rod and instantly it felt a better fish as it was taking line on a tight clutch so then I'm hoping it stays on. After 10-15min battle I eventually landed this amazing 40.5lb UK PB scaley mirror. My first 40 pounder in the UK so as you can imagine I was buzzing from ear to ear. Something I'll never forget lol.
