Cornish Common Result for Kneebone! 24th November, 2011

Mainline consultant, John Kneebone has been been putting a couple of our latest baits on test through their paces and has been in touch with news of this massive result! Over to John to take up the story: "With carp activity winding down on the pits of my Oxford syndicate, I've recently turned my thoughts to a few waters closer to home in Cornwall. One of these venues is a small reservoir near Penzance called 'Boscathnoe' run by South West Lakes Trust. With plenty of double figured carp and a few 20's I felt this day ticket fishery would give me a good chance of a bite or two through the winter months, but would still provide the outside chance of a better fish, as it also held a common over thirty pounds.

Hoping to catch one of these old warriors, I made my first visit to the lake to fish a 48hr seesion and was pleased to find the carp still pretty active, occasionally rolling in the marginal lillie beds. Sadly this didn't lead to any runs over my first night, so when the weather turned cold and all signs of this activity stopped ahead of my second night, I thought my chance of action had gone.

I'd had two bream during the first night so when my middle buzzer sounded a single bleep a few hours into dark, I thought the bream were back to cause problems again, but the line then pinged from the clip and the reels clutch slowly began to tick as a good carp took line. As the fish plodded about I hoped it was one of the upper doubles or even a twenty, but to be honest was a little surprised when the flank of a large common broke the surface and I knew the lakes biggie was ready for the net! I couldn't believe it! My first bite of my winter campaign and I'd landed the lakes big common and only thirty pound fish at 37lbs 14ozs! Fish of this size are few and far between in Cornwall so I'm totally buzzing to have put a picture of this fish in the album and hope we soon have a Cornish 40!"
