New Grange Gold for Kneebone!

Mainline consultantant, John Kneebone has been in touch with this report following a recent trip to Christchurch lake part of the Oxfordshire syndicate, Linch Hill.  Over to John to take up the story: "After a couple laps of the lake I'd still not seen any signs of carp, so was about to barrow to one of the swims that fish the central area of the lake, when I saw a fish roll at the shallow bay end of the lake. Another carp showed a few minutes later and I was soon re-directing the barrow to set-up in the bays vacant swim, 'The New Dig'.

With two rods fishing over a light scattering of bait, I placed my final rod and snowman hookbait at the back of short range gravel bar and main feature of the swim. Deciding to bait this rod heavily with 3kilos of New Grange boilies.

Everything looked to be going to plan when I received a take that afternoon to the rod at the back of the bar! Unfotunetly I lost this fish in the surrounding beds of heavy weed. To make matters worse I lost another fish to the recast, again claimed by the weed.

With takes coming late afternoon and late evening, I baited up again the following and each day after, early in morning, again heavily with New Grange boilies and the tactic worked a treat, holding fish and generating another 4takes! Thanks to a small rig tweak and a change to the more aggressive Fox XSC hook pattern all of these carp met the net, the first of which being a cracking 34lb common, braced a fish later by another golden common just over thirty! It certainly made me feel a bit better about losing the first two fish and completely turned the session around!"
