Three Thirties Session For Jim!

Mainline Consultant, Jim Wilson has been in touch following another great session at his syndicate water. Over to Jim to take up the story: "I arrived at my syndicate at around 5:00am, which meant the dreaded 2:30am alarm clock to make the journey there. On arriving it was a very fresh May morning and four other anglers were dotted around the lake, and it didn’t appear as though much had been caught. Due to the north east wind that was blowing, I set up on the northern bank of the lake with the wind cover over my head in a swim giving me access to an area of snags that the lakes residents like to visit when the conditions are right. I quickly got two rods out to favourable areas and sat back with the kettle on. After a couple of hours it was obvious I was in the wrong area so I moved to my right, still on the back of the wind, but to an area of the lake that had been sheltered from its chilling effects. Because of the nature of the bottom I was fishing over in the new swim, I opted for fluorocarbon leaders made from IQ2 and lead clips fished with little Stiff-Hinge rigs using the super sharp size 8 Choddy hooks, Mouth Trap hook section and 20lb N-Trap boom. 12mm White Milky Toffee pop-ups formed my chosen hookbaits and I started by fishing them over a couple of hundred, mixed Hybrid and Cell Boilies. At first light the following morning, I felt a little despondent, as I thought I should have had a bite, so popped the kettle on while considering my options. With a cuppa in hand one of the rods pulled up tight before falling slack again, and the line continuing to fall slack, I struck and connected with a heavy weight and after a short but stubborn fight under the rod-tip I netted the awesome 'Yo-Yo' at a whacking 38lb 10oz! With the rod back out and the spot topped-up with another couple of hundred Cell and Hybrid boilies a little while later I was away again. This time the fish went hard for a set of snags and after a tense minute or two, I finally guided the culprit towards the net, which turned out to be an awesome 34lb 8oz common. That was it till first light on my second morning, when I was away again and yet again the result was another thirty-pound fish - a stunning mirror known as 'The Parrot' at 30lb 120z to finish off an absolutely cracking trip!"
